Walmart no more.

21 Apr

We are no longer registered at Wal-Mart – here’s why:

When we considered registering at Wal-Mart we had no idea that we would have such a bad experience. I personally was not able to make it to Wal-Mart when Jessica and Sam went to register, but they experienced nothing but problems from the start, and it spiraled into a big mess that quickly got out of hand.

Chapter 1 – The Road to Wal-Mart

In the beginning they had a hard time finding the machines at the store to start a registry (not until later did we discover that they are hidden near customer service in one of the corners). So in order to get their hands on a scanner they naturally asked the clerk at the service desk – makes sense right? Well the desk clerk didn’t think so and sent her to the jewelry counter to inquire there. Of course the jewelry counter doesn’t handle gift registries (anymore), that’s normally done through the customer service desk – or more accurately – the machine hidden in the corner near the customer service desk. So they sent her back to customer service as expected, but this time the jewelry clerk went with her. A redeeming quality? I don’t know.

Bridal shower

20 Apr

This weekend, Samantha and my family hosted a fun and fabulous bridal shower for me. I am sincerely grateful for all the friends and family who came. It meant the world to me, and it made the shower memorable. I thought I’d share some of the pictures from the day of food, games and gifts.

The pictures are courtesy of my cousin Michelle.

Thank you to everyone who came! Dustin and I appreciate all the gifts, but seeing all of you was the best present of all! Also, I wanted to give a special thank you to Sam, my aunt Gail, my cousin Michelle and my mother for putting together such a special day.

Exciting week

15 Apr

This week has been a VERY exciting week in regard to the wedding. Dustin and I sent out the largest group of invitations on Wednesday (and we sent the e-mail invitations out the same day).

Then, on Thursday, Dustin’s father Darrin started working on the frame for the chuppah. For those of you who don’t know what a chuppah is, it’s a canopy that the ceremony will be performed underneath. To hold the canopy, Darrin is putting together a frame out of cedar.

My aunts picked a prayer shawl in Israel to drape over the top.  It really means a lot to Dustin and I that the chuppah is a joint project between his family and mine. It represents support from both sides of the family for our marriage.

How to RSVP & get an Email Invitation

11 Apr

There is a couple of new buttons at the top of each page here. These new buttons allow you to either sign up to receive the email invitation or RSVP once you actually get your invitation.

Signing up for the email invitation will get you added into our invitation mailing list. When we send out the paper invitations in the mail we will also send out the email invitations. When you get your invitation, whether it be the email or paper version, there will be a six character code (Something like: AERS12) that you can enter into the RSVP form on this website to tell us whether you can make it or not.

The six character code will be very apparent with the email version, but in order to find your code on your paper invitation you will need to check the back of the response card. There we will have written a unique code that tells us all the information about your response that we need. For example, when you enter your code it will display either your name, or the primary person’s name that is on the invitation. It will also display the number of guests and whether you have been invited to the rehearsal dinner or not.

This RSVP system is something that I created for the website, so if you happen to run into any problems with it please let either myself or Jessica know and I will be sure to fix it and process your RSVP manually. This system is purely for your convenience and you can always still RSVP by returning the response card, emailing one of us, or calling to let us know you can make it.
