Planning a wedding

26 Apr

Dustin and I are excited to put together our wedding. We know we want our colors to be teal, cream and black. Outside of that, we don’t have a lot else we KNOW we want to do. For the next year or so, I’ll be using this blog to share ideas and cool things I see online while planning the wedding.

A while ago, I posed a question to the online community, “How much should you give away on a wedding blog?” The responses were varied, but I think we’ve decided to share a few major details, you know the date, the place, etc. However, when it comes to the small details— the things that make the difference between just a wedding and a WOW wedding— we’re going to leave those as a surprise. The plan is to show different options for those details but we’re not going to say which one we chose.

So to start, I’ve put together this inspiration board. I love the color teal, which is why we’re using it in our  simple color palette. Teal, like blue and green, has a calming effect. The color also reflects nature and natural, organic feelings. Finally, the darker shades of teal give any occasion a more elegant feel. When we combine some other elements with the elegant feel, I think we can find the perfect balance between fun and sophisticated.

Here’s what I know about these pictures:

Teal boutonniere: Eclecticala.com

Invite: ModernGirlInvitations.com

Necklace: A-Little-Sparkle.com

Shoes: Amazon.com (couldn’t find them)

Clutch: AbsolutelyGorgeousBoutique.com

Drink is a Hpnotiq mix, flowers are lilacs (yes, I know it doesn’t fit the teal aspect…I just love lilacs, specifically the smell.)

Welcome

26 Apr

Welcome to our website!

We are Dustin Sparks and Jessica Kerman (soon-to-be-Sparks), two lovebirds living in Muncie, Indiana.

Jessica and Dustin in Dublin (2007)

So, why did we start this site?

We wanted a place for family and friends to go to find out more information about our upcoming wedding. This blog and pages on the site will provide information about the date, location, and other details of our blessed occasion. The posts will contain our experiences as we go through the process of planning a wedding. We also plan to post ideas and inspiration that find online.

What happens after the wedding?

The HONEYMOON!

But after that, we plan to continue updating the site with our trials and tribulations of our married life. It might not include all the good or the bad times, but hopefully we can provide an interesting narrative for you all to follow as we grow together.

Thank you!

We’d love to hear from you. If you have any comments or questions, reply to the posts, and we’ll respond.
